The Paisley
Haze Quintet
Hailing from Cheltenham PA, The
Paisley Haze Quintet is quickly taking over the world, one concert at a time.
Committed students of jazz, the five-some combines the theory and feel of
straight jazz with their own original material and attitude to create a sound
truly their own. Often at their concerts you will find a John Coltrane or
Thelonious Monk song sandwiched between two original compositions. While some
songs swing and others have got the funk, there's always a groove for the
massive throngs of fans to dance to.
The Paisley
Haze Quintet was featured in World Café Live's event "Cream: The Best of
Philly Rising" in February 2006, and was named the Stand Out Performers of the
entire month by singer-songwriter Bruce Torres and the staff at World Café
Live. In addition to multiple World Café Live appearances, they have performed
at many venues in the Philadelphia area, including Grape Street Pub, Fifth
Stone Studio, Bucks County Coffee (Philadelphia, PA), Coffee Works (Voorhees,
NJ), The Little Dipper (Elkins Park, PA), the music and arts festival Arts in
the Park (Elkins Park, PA), as well as many other venues and private parties.
The Quintet
consists of Zach Billet on saxophone, Aaron Fraint on guitar and mandolin,
Gabe Shapiro on bass and flute, Adam Shapiro on guitar, and Sebastian Weiss on
drums.
Stereo
Chemistry
Stereochemistry
is an original fock fusion band blending elements of rock, funk, blues, and jazz
that holds no boundaries or limitations on their musical horizons. The band was
launched in Philadelphia, PA in 2005, however, with members located in Northern
and Central New Jersey, as well as, Philadelphia they perform live throughout
Philadelphia, New Jersey, and New York City.
The bands conception arose from the ashes of Indie Rock band, “National Steel”,
where drummer, Chris DiMaulo and guitarist, Ryan Townsend first forged a musical
rapport. After playing extensively, throughout New Jersey, and New York City, at
Village staples such as The Red Lion, “National Steel” ran out of steam and
DiMaulo and Townsend quickly turned back to their
musical roots to begin a fresh project.
With Townsend on lead vocals and guitar and DiMaulo splitting his time between
the guitar and drums it wasn’t long before prodigious bass player, Chris Teijelo
was called upon to bear the responsibility of this rhythmic staple. Shortly
after, Ryan Marek solidified the line-up with his punk-roots and original sound
on both guitar and drums, which has allowed him and DiMaulo to share the duty of
both guitarist and drummer.
Because of the musical diversity of its members styles and influences
Stereochemistry has developed a fusion and synergy amongst their music that
yields an intense audible and visual experience.
Appy Polly
Logic
Surfacing from
Doylestown Pennsylvania, Appy Polly Logic consists of four members all ranging
from different musical backgrounds. Rob Morris on drums, Damiano Mosher on
guitar, Carlos Soto-Gil on bass, and Mike McQuillan on alto saxophone. Their
music is a
unique combination of rock, funk, jazz and electronica.
